Hopefully having some personal advice will help people understand these things, enjoy!

Right now I am constantly thinking about why not thinking is better than thinking. When I have been trying to silence my mind, it is still thinking. Always constantly going over why not thinking is better than thinking. And here I am trying to say why, and nothing comes to mind, shows how good thinking all that has been. The mind will always have something new, seductive, advantageous to think about. And perhaps it is better to not think, or at least to learn to quiet my mind, have control over my thoughts.

Yoga is a time where you can experiment with this thing we call "experience" or "consciousness" or
"the state of being". Try and feel yourself existing, and think from the back of your brain, and quiet your mind.

Close your eyes, Relax the eyeballs, throat, and think from the back of your brain. Focus on the feeling of your skin, and any feeling at all coming in. This, the yogi knows, is called "experience".

Thinking and "being" are a trade off. When I quiet my mind I feel more in touch with my sensory inputs, more in touch with the world, and less in my head.

Practice

To advance one needs constant practice, this is the key!

But if you are not as motivated, then you should try to get motivated! Read books on mediation then meditate after wards, read books on yoga and do yoga, jut get a poke, then act on it!

Compassion

One thing I have learned about compassion is that it is much more difficult to feel anything but annoyance with people when you are sick. But what about us who are psychologically sick all the time? Does that make it more difficult to get along with others? Probably. All this stress and anxiety in our modern life can't be helping our relationships with other people.

Zen Mind, Beginer Mind

A quote from Zen Mind, Beginer's Mind

Every existence in nature, every existence in the human world, every cultural work that we create, is something which was given, or is being given to us, relatively speaking.
Pg. 69

The chapter then goes on to explain that everything is given from the universal spirit. This also means that everything negative is gifted as well, but it seems compassion is just a reflection of this giving. Are you fine? I am fine u are a good man

Compassion - A light on Yoga

From the book A Light on Yoga by Iyengar

Karuna is not merely showing pity or compassion and shedding tears of despair at the misery of others. It is compasion coupled with devoted action to relive the misery of the afflicted. The yogi uses all his resources - physical, economic, mental or moral- to alleviate the pain and suffering of others. He shares his strenght with the weak untill they become strong. He shares his courage with those that are timid untill they become brave by his example. He denies the maxim of the 'survival of the fittest', but makes the weak strong enough to survive. He becomes a shelter to one and all.

Children

It is intresting how the things that bug me about children are still with us when we become adults. Kids never listen to your advice, they don't care what you have to say. Much like us adults, much like myself. I always find myself never listening to other people, and I certainly don't take others advice. Children must pick up this behavior from adults, and it is just more obvious when they are doing it.

The other thing about children that bugs me is their constant seeking out of attention, and domination of the other kids. Once again, exactly like us adults except we are more sublte about it.

The only thing I have learned about compassion so far is that it is very difficult.

Learning about children!

Little kids are nuts. I am working with ten year olds, and for many of them life is an insane competition for attention and status. I wonder if I still live like that, but just compete in less blatant ways than they do. Yeah, now that I think about it I really do. But some kids have dropped out and don't battle for attention, I wonder what happens to them?
